Captures succeed when three things align: the target is in a low HP window, you are using an appropriate sphere tier, and you apply status/pressure without accidentally killing the Pal. Everything else is optimization.
The capture loop (do this every time)
- Identify whether the Pal is a worker target, combat target, or breeding material.
- Choose a sphere tier that matches its difficulty—don’t open with your rarest ball on a common field spawn.
- Chip HP carefully. Back off burst skills when the Pal is near the capture window.
- Apply sleep/stun/frozen-type pressure when available; unsettled targets waste spheres.
- Throw, then either finish the capture or re-establish the window. Don’t panic-spam.
Sphere economy: the real progression gate
Most stalled accounts are not “bad at combat.” They are sphere-broke. Treat spheres like ammo:
- Craft continuously whenever materials allow.
- Use cheap spheres on common Pals and salvage attempts.
- Reserve higher tiers for alphas, rare spawns, and legendary routes.
- Upgrade the sphere tech line early in the Technology tree—before cosmetic unlocks.
| Situation | Sphere strategy |
|---|---|
| Common field Pal for work rank | Lowest craftable tier that still has a realistic chance |
| Alpha / dungeon rare | Mid/high tier + status setup |
| Legendary / ultra-rare route | Best available tier, full prep, no greed kills |
| Breeding parent hunt | Be willing to leave and return; don’t bankrupt the base |
HP windows and overkill control
If your Pals keep executing the target, you are using a boss team for a capture job. Swap to slower chip damage. Player weapons also overkill—tap fire or switch to lower-damage options when the Pal is critical.
A practical habit: when the target hits low HP, recall your most explosive Pal and finish the window yourself.
Status and control matter more than people admit
A restless, enraged, or full-HP Pal rejects spheres. Build a catching kit:
- Moves/items that impair action economy
- Safe distance so you can throw without eating a combo
- Food and armor so you don’t die mid-throw animation
Legendary routes especially punish impatience. Reset the fight if the window is messy.
Legendary and rare target protocol
- Scout first. Know spawn context, nearby aggro, and escape terrain.
- Clear adds if surrounding Pals can ruin the throw.
- Enter with a dedicated catch party, not your Tower workout team.
- Bring more spheres than you think you need.
- Have a leave condition. If materials/spheres are gone, extract and recraft. Tilting into empty throws is how accounts stall for days.
Base support for catching
- Automate fiber/stone/ingot adjacent materials used in sphere crafts.
- Keep a labeled chest: “Catching kit” with spheres, food, and status items.
- After a successful rare catch, immediately decide: work, combat, or breeding cage—don’t let legendaries idle unassigned forever.
Multiplayer catching notes
In co-op, assign roles: one player chips, one player throws, one player peels adds. Uncoordinated burst from three players is the fastest way to corpse a rare spawn.
